(1) Common Childhood Allergies / (2) Understand the developmental needs of children from the common emotional and behavioural issues of infants and young children – Public Talk

Our last talk was very well received! Thank you again for your support! The 5th “Public Talk” of the JC Bright Start Project will invite senior paediatrician, Dr. Daniel Chui and Dr. Lilian Wong, to explain two common conditions in infants and young children — 1) allergies and 2) common infants and young children emotional and behavioral issues. Dr. Chui will introduce the different types of common childhood allergies and home treatment methods. Dr. Wong will explain some common emotional and behavioral issues in young children and their relationship with children’s development. We hope that parents and staff can obtain useful information to effectively support and promote the healthy development of children through the talk.

Date: 18 February 2023 (Sat)

Time: 2:30-4:30pm

Format: Online

Topic:

  1. Common childhood allergies
  2. Understand the developmental needs of children from the common emotional and behavioural symptoms of infants and young children

Language: Cantonese

Speaker: Dr Daniel CHIU, Dr Lilian WONG

(1) Common Childhood Allergies

Allergy is one of the common diseases among children. The red, itchy rashes found on children’s skin could fear many parents. Some children may even show difficulty breathing, leaving parents with panics.  Dr. Chui will introduce different types of children allergies based on actual cases, and advise parents the general home treatment methods, when to seek medical consultation, and how to prevent risk factors of recurrence.

(2) Understand the developmental needs of children from the common emotional and behavioural issues of infants and young children

The first few years of life are the most important period for a child’s development. Children will learn and gain experience to promote different aspects of development, such as gross motor, fine motor, language, cognition, and social interaction. Dr. Wong will discuss the common emotional and behavioural problems of young children, understand the developmental needs of children with parents, and discuss how to effectively support children’s early development.
